Course on Sustainable Businesses – A Modern Approach @ IIT Bombay [Sept 11-13]: Register by Sept 6

Sustainable development by balancing the long-term economic, environmental and societal objectives is one of the most challenging goals for business and science communities. Businesses and industries need to increasingly incorporate these aspects of strategy and decision making. In addition to making businesses more competitive and resilient in the long run, sustainability-driven practices also ensure improved shareholder perception and better market acceptance.
Sustainability reporting has also become a regulatory requirement. However, decision making in this area is highly complex, with multiple criteria and trade-offs, and it becomes essential to use advanced methods and tools. This course will discuss some of the important methodologies and tools available to sustainability professionals to support decision making. Life cycle assessment (LCA) has emerged as a powerful and popular tool for sustainability assessment.
The course will discuss the LCA methodology and give hands-on experience using selected software. Industrial ecology and circular economy are emerging tools to develop sustainable business practices.
